The Presenter

Photo of Shivani Shivani Mair has been a freelancer in the media industry since 1999 and has diverse experience in broadcast, presenting for the likes of the BBC, MTV, Star TV, Propeller TV, Sense TV and comperes at stage events. As well as presenting the Creative Careers Surgery, Shivani's portfolio includes the BAFTA's 2005 on the red carpet for MTV, where she interviewed a host of celebrities including Pierce Brosnan, Richard Gere, Claudia Schiffer, Gael Garcia Bernal, Mischa Barton, Simon Pegg, Imelda Staunton, Juliette Lewis, Clive Owen, Matthew Vaughn, Michael Nozik and Mike Leigh.

During her career she has also interviewed celebrities such as Jamelia, Jay Sean, Beverly Knight, Sanjeev Baskar, Ms Dynamite, Bollywood actress Juhi Chawla, playback singer Sukhwinder Singh and Asian music duo Bombay Rockers.

Shivani is well known for her vibrant persona as an event compere, and has hosted a variety of events including Mencap's Charity Fashion Remix, The Commission for Youth Social Enterprise Launch and Birmingham-music event Bombay Chill.

Since 2006 Shivani has also developed her reputation as a video and creative project producer, and has worked for clients such as Barnardo's, Social Enterprise West Midlands and SAMPAD South Asian Arts. Shivani's own career experiences inspired her to start the Creative Careers Surgery Show, which she set up after graduating in May 2005. In May 2007, Shivani's was deemed to be one of the top 21 young social entrepreneurs in the UK, for her vision and creation of the Creative Careers Surgery gave her the opportunity to be spotted by UnLtd and the Office of the Third Sector. She is now an active founder of the Commission for Youth Social Enterprise.

The personality behind the presenter

Photo of ShivaniAt the age of 16 Shivani was daring enough to do a bungee jump for charity - in the pouring rain!

Her search for an adrenaline rush didn't stop there…especially when she went Elephant trekking in Thailand and got to live a dream of bathing an baby Elephant.

When she is not ducking forest branches on an elephant's back or producing and presenting the Creative Careers Surgery, Shivani is studying her other passion -classical Indian music and is training as an Indian singer.

Future Ambitions

  • To be fluent in Punjabi and Hindi languages by 2010
  • To perform a classical Indian song to a live audience by 2009
  • To present and produce her own TV programme
  • To positively affect over 1000 young people through the Creative Careers Surgery and her work with the Commission for Youth Social Enterprise
  • To develop other great Creative Careers Surgery services for the UK's next generation to enjoy and benefit from in their future careers
