Lyle Bignon is a Public Relations (PR) professional who works in the Press Office of Town Hall and Symphony Hall in Birmingham. Since joining the organisation in 2007, he has worked to publicise a wide variety of rock, pop, folk, world, jazz and comedy events at the two concert halls, including artists such as Anoushka Shankar, Buena Vista Social Club, Cluster, Elvis Costello, Grace Jones, Herbie Hancock, Imagined Village, Liza Minnelli, Morrissey, Nitin Sawhney, Ocean Colour Scene, PJ Harvey, Rhod Gilbert, Suzanne Vega, The Herbaliser, Van Morrison and Zakir Hussain.

In his spare time, he undertakes freelance communications and PR work across film, digital media, crafts, music, visual arts, architecture, literature, photography and for third sector organisations.

Previous clients and projects include WaterAid, The Destroyers, Pogus Caesar, Creative Republic, Whirling Dervish, Created in Birmingham, Oxjam Brum, Breaks for the Quake: Haiti Fundraiser

Since 2001, Lyle has worked for Marketing Birmingham, Advantage West Midlands, Big Lottery Fund, University of Birmingham and Midlands Arts Centre.

He started off his career wanting to pursue his love of writing and design and says "The majority of my previous roles helped me interact with a huge variety of people from members of the public to media, company directors, stakeholders and academics, offering a valuable insight into how public, private and third sector organisations work individually and together. Not to mention sticking to deadlines, exploring ideas and being creative!" Lyle not only sets straight the difference between the job of someone in Public Relations in comparison to Marketing, he also gives you an interesting insight into his career in PR.
